Customs Blinks on Border War Against Prescription Drugs
Gutknecht declares victory

First District Congressman Gil Gutknecht today issued the following statement upon hearing reports that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will stop seizing prescription drugs mailed from Canada for personal use:

"This is great news. I'm pleased my colleagues and I were able to convince CBP that their policy of seizing life savings medication was misguided. However, it's disappointing it took them almost a year to reverse their harmful policy.

American consumers shouldn't be treated like common criminals for attempting to purchase affordable, FDA-approved prescription drugs. I will continue my fight to open pharmaceutical markets so that all Americans have access to world class prescription drugs at world market prices."

Gutknecht has issued letters to the Food and Drug Administration and CBP in an effort to reverse the policy of prescription drug seizures.
